What it shows is that instinct is farm more important than curiosity! The old saying “Curiosity killed the cat” goes for humans too. Curiosity often overrules COMMON SENSE – and I wouldn’t call that intelligent!
I disagree. It appears that being around human civilization, where immediate danger is minimized, gives the orangutans a “sense of trust” of sorts. They are not stupid, rather they consider themselves more like “us,” and not a beast in fear of becoming prey. Just my interpretation.
